A plain wall blocks the view to the house. A gateway in an old garden wall gives access to the grounds. A winding path leads past long, angled stilts to some unknown destination. The front door is a gap in an insular plinth. There is no front or rear elevation. Is this really a luxury villa in an exclusive Parisian suburb? Here Koolhaas reduced domestic life to just a few elementary forms: two apartments separated by a swimming pool on the roof. There is no hint of display.
